The foundation of a post-frame structure consists of the building columns and the grade board, which is attached to the columns at the building perimeter. Since the 1950s, post-frame foundations have been constructed by installing wood columns directly into the ground. Even with the column having been chemically treated, the treatment leaches out of the wood and into the ground over time. In this condition, settlement and displacement are likely to occur.
